Know and Comprehend: Develop cultural literacy: Learn names of representative architects , techniques, works. Observe and identify formal techniques characteristic of specific architects and geographical locations. Understand the historical progression of the Southern German Baroque style in the context of general cultural and political developments.
Apply: by identifying works of architects/schools of architecture based on key stylistic traits.
Analyze and Synthesize: Use basic analytical tools relating to composition (balance, dominance, economy, eye movement, harmony, proportion, variety, textures, colors, interplay of space, light, and shadow; etc.) to explain a work of architecture in terms of formal concerns and the craftman’s intent.
Evaluate: Discuss the ways the Southern German Baroque style has been evaluated in the context of time and culture during various time periods. Observe ways these evaluations have changed over time.
Policies & Procedures: It is a requirement of this course that part of the learning activities (scheduled class discussions, lectures, and assignments) are completed using the class website.
Among other things, students are required to complete a student page, upload assignments that are marked accordingly to their student page as well as participate in class discussions and give presentations on the class website, in addition to completing assignments, attending classes, and taking quizzes in a traditional classroom format. Because of the online components that complement the brick and mortar instruction, this is a hybrid course. It is weighted the same as a traditional course.
Attendance
in real classroom: The University’s approval of this course is contingent on covering the subjects outlined in the syllabus. You must be in class to receive the information. Borrowing notes or meeting with the instructor during office hours is not equivalent to being in class. Excessive absences may result in failing the class. Roll may be taken periodically; credit may be given for attendance, and attendance may be influential in determining borderline grades.

Completion of ARCH 111 and ARCH 211 are required in order to take this course.
Credits and level:
This course is a junior level undergraduate course and counts for 3 undergraduate credits.
Upon successful completion, students will be able to take ARCH 421 which is a senior level undergraduate course.
